New Belgium logistics hub opened by Finnair Cargo
Finnair Cargo will launch weekly MD-11 freighter flights connecting its new Brussels hub with its Helsinki hub, New York JFK and a new destination, Chicago OHare, in March of this year.
The freight carrier said that it chose Brussels, in Belgium, for its new hub because it is one of Europes key gateways for cargo, offering great connections to numerous locations in Europe with fast road feeder services covering the European air cargo market within easy reach.
Finnair Cargo went on to say,
Brussels Airport is located in the centre of European pharmaceutical industry, which offers great expansion opportunities for Finnair Cargo.
Managing Director, Juha Jrvinen, said,
Finnair Cargos target is to become one of the top five cargo carriers between Europe and north-east Asia, and the opening of the Brussels cargo hub to strengthen our cargo service via Helsinki is an important step in this vision.
Finnair Cargo is the largest air cargo carrier in the Nordic & Baltic region, and this summer will operate to Asian destinations including Nagoya, Osaka, Tokyo Narita, Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Chongqing, Xian, Hanoi, Delhi, Bangkok and Singapore with A330/340s and with dedicated MD-11 freighters to Hong Kong and Mumbai.
