OSE European celebrates 21 years in logistics
Gateshead-based logistics company, OSE European, is celebrating a whopping 21 years in business this month.
The company has come an incredibly long way since its humble beginnings as a local scooter courier service based in Newcastle upon Tyne. Back then, the small team was responsible for delivering documents around the city centre. Who’d have thought they would go on to become one of the UK’s leading providers of time-critical UK and European transport, courier service logistics and storage solutions in just over two decades?
Seeking to move away from their roots as a local courier service, OSE embarked on a tremendously ambitious expansion plan after only a year in business. Initially, the company began offering time-critical deliveries across the UK, Ireland and Europe. By the time 2008 rolled around, OSE had 25 heavy goods vehicles under its belt and was serving a broad range of clients across the UK and the European continent.
In 2012, OSE transferred their operations to a large warehouse located in North Shields in order to accommodate their growing workload. It was around this time that they also opened their very first warehouse in Belgium in order to support their European operation, which was expanding at the speed of knots. The company further bolstered their global reach by joining forces with the Fortec Pallet Network in 2019, and later joined the Pallex Pallet Network in 2021.
This past year has also seen some terrifically exciting twists and turns for OSE, too. In the spring of 2022, the company expanded their fleet by taking on two new 7.5-tonne vehicles. In September, OSE took delivery of three new articulated units and the company is expecting additional vans and temperature-controlled vehicles to be delivered shortly. With a stronger fleet, OSE is now well positioned to embrace the demands of their ever-increasing workload.
Additionally, earlier this year three fantastic new team members joined the Gateshead depot. OSE was delighted to welcome Jonny Ramsay as Business Development Executive, Lisa Frankland as Transport Planner, and Teri Watson as Accounts Clerk. In July 2022, Emma Crighton became the latest member of the team, taking up for the role of Financial Controller.
Of course, under the incredibly astute direction of company Director Rob Jackson, OSE European is set to continue on its tremendous path of growth and expansion. The coming years hold much promise for a business that has aptly demonstrated its ability to adapt, evolve and thrive over the last two decades. Most notably, according to Rob, the company has recently expanded its pallet services into the Middle East, which is an exciting new direction for the business’s operations to take.
So, watch this space. There’s no doubt that, in the hands of Rob and his incredibly experienced team, this company is set to continue going from strength to strength in the coming months and years.
