Gateshead logistics company, OSE European, is celebrating success by marking 20 years in the business.

OSE European started life as a local same-day courier service delivering documents around Newcastle City Centre before embarking on a significant expansion plan.

Director Rob Jackson said, “It goes without saying that we are truly delighted to be celebrating 20 years in the business. The growth we have seen from being a small same day courier service in and around Newcastle to becoming a recognised European-wide distributor has been quite a journey to go on”.

After only a year in business, OSE expanded into offering time-critical deliveries across the UK, Ireland, and Europe and by 2008, OSE become a force on the roads with 25 heavy goods vehicles serving a wide range of customers.

By 2012, the company had moved operations to a large warehouse in North Shields and opened their first warehouse in Belgium to help serve their rapidly expanding European operation. By 2019, OSE had joined the Fortec Pallet Network and in April 2021, the logistics provider joined the Pallex Pallet Network, further increasing reach both geographically and in terms of the numbers of prospective customers.

Rob explained, “developing our European proposition and joining the Fortec and Pallex networks have been pivotal to our growth. But undeniably, it has been the strength of our team which has allowed us to continue to deliver on our promises and has kept our customers returning. We have a highly-skilled and experienced management team in place supported by our coordinators, planners, and customer service executives providing industry-leading customer service, up to the minute customs advice, and strategic planning support”.

And it’s not just purely the people and transport side that has seen significant investment from OSE. As businesses adapted to cope with the onset of the pandemic, more and more began to trade online, meaning that OSE European experienced a surge in new business enquiries as companies in and around the UK and Europe struggled to keep up with demand from consumers. In response, OSE has expanded its fleet, developed and launched a new website showcasing its full range of services, and began a new marketing campaign designed to raise its profile and reach new target markets.

Rob continued, “We certainly won’t be resting on our laurels! We are busy working on plans to take OSE European into its next 20 years. We’ve recently expanded our pallet services into the Middle East and are excited to see where that takes us”.
