All LGV drivers are being urged to stay calm during A39 road works
LGV Drivers are being urged to stay clam by Somerset County Council while major flood drainage works take place on the A39.
This has came about after two recent incidents by LGV drivers showing both become stuck in minor roads whilst trying to pass the roadworks using their sat-navs instead of waiting in council provided pens.
Roads have been closed for all traffic during weekdays between the hours of 9am and 3:30pm. No vehicles over 18t or 9.5m long are allowed to access the road and being diverted onto an alternative route. Large lorries and trailers must wait in a designated bay for up to 2 hours before being transported through at 11am or 1:30pm. The roadworks have been in place since November 4th and will stay for three weeks.
Councillor Harvey Siggs, Somerset County Council’s Cabinet member for Highways, said:”We know this is inconvenient, but in these unique circumstances we appeal for their patience and consideration.”
